After her mother’s disappearance, Blanca arrives in a village where every silence feels like a threat. In this psychological thriller with touches of horror, set in an unsettling rural landscape, deaths and secrets weave a conspiracy from which there is no escape.

Blanca Ruiz, a young Psychology student, arrives in the remote village of Moncada, in the Valencian Community, seeking a few days of rest. Her mother has lived there for years, and this is Blanca’s first visit. But from the very beginning, something feels wrong: a strange figure on the road, the evasive attitude of the locals, and above all, the unsettling silence surrounding her mother, Cristina, who is nowhere to be found and about whom no one seems to have clear information. People tell Blanca that Cristina has gone away for a few days and will return soon. Blanca, however, does not believe it.

As the days pass, Blanca begins to experience disturbing events: children’s songs that only she can hear, visions of her mother, and unsettling encounters with neighbors who seem to know more than they admit. Everything appears designed to destabilize her, as if someone were trying to convince her that she is losing her mind. The only support she finds is Luis, a young Civil Guard officer newly assigned to the village who seems understanding… perhaps too understanding.

The tension escalates with the sudden death of Isabel, a friend of her mother, and the apparent suicide of her stepfather Arturo, who had shown signs of paranoia. After being kidnapped and forced to sign documents that would legally declare her mentally incompetent, Blanca begins a desperate fight for survival. She manages to escape and uncovers the truth: it is all part of a plan to have her declared insane and legally incapacitated in order to seize land she inherited from her father.

During her escape, she encounters Luis, who picks her up in his car. But how did he happen to be there at that exact moment? Blanca’s worst suspicions are confirmed: Luis, in collusion with her mother, drives the car—with Blanca inside—off a cliff.

Everything seems over, but the ending takes an unexpected turn. Someone has survived the car crash—but it is not Blanca. It is her friend María, who had assumed Blanca’s identity to uncover the truth. Blanca had actually died months earlier in a diving accident, but before her death, she confided in María that she feared her mother was planning to harm her. In the end, it is revealed that Cristina, together with Luis and Arturo, had devised a scheme to have Blanca declared legally incompetent and take control of her inheritance. Fearing Arturo might talk—and hoping to extract even more money from the estate—Cristina and Luis eliminated him as well.

Justice strikes with the same force as ambition. Luis, believing Blanca to have died in the crash, learns that no one was found inside the wrecked vehicle. Blanca is still alive—or so he thinks. In a fit of rage, he drives through the village at high speed after spotting someone he believes to be Blanca walking down the street. He accelerates toward her to run her over… but it is Cristina, her mother. Both die in the collision.

María closes the circle of revenge and justice, determined to keep her friend’s memory alive.
