Beatriz Giménez de Ory is a writer and a teacher of Spanish Language and Literature. She holds a degree in Hispanic Philology and a Master’s degree in Advanced Literary Studies. Her career, initially focused on short stories for adults, later shifted toward children’s and young adult literature, a field in which she has stood out.
Throughout her career, she has published poetry collections and novels for children and young readers, distinguished by their sensitivity to language. She won the Spanish National Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature in 2021, and in 2025 she received the Edebé Prize for Children’s Literature for Three Sad Children and Half a Unicorn, consolidating her position as one of the most recognized voices in Spanish-language children’s literature. Her work has also received awards such as the Cuatrogatos Foundation Prize, the IBBY Chile Gold Medal, and inclusion in the White Ravens List.
