María Tena is a Spanish writer and cultural manager. She holds degrees in Philosophy and Letters and in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, and her work belongs to contemporary narrative, with a strong focus on memory, identity, and personal relationships.

Throughout her career, she has published several novels with which she has been a finalist for the Herralde Novel Prize and winner of the 14th Tusquets Novel Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in Spanish-language literature. She has also been recognized in the field of short fiction with awards such as the runner-up prize in the Madrid Book Fair Short Story Prize (2002) and the Literaturas.com Literary Contest (2001).
