When a young radio host discovers that someone is sabotaging the station where she works, she must join forces with her greatest rival to unmask the culprit. What begins as an investigation filled with deception and suspects gradually becomes an irresistible romantic comedy where the most infuriating enemy may also be the right person.

Mara Alarcón, a young woman in her twenties, works on Late Hours, the nighttime show of Radio Ga Ga, where she is responsible for listener curiosities, investigations, and audience questions. She spends her nights alongside Celia, who runs the film segment; Enric, the station’s brilliant IT specialist; and Alec Park, the colleague with whom she has maintained an endless war of pranks and sarcastic jabs ever since he arrived and took over the sports section she once hosted.

Mara’s life changes when Lola, the station director and the person who has supported her career the most, announces her retirement. Her replacement will be Guillem Torres, a man Mara cannot stand and whose presence awakens fears and anxieties she has spent years trying to bury.

From the moment he arrives, Guillem imposes new rules and turns the workplace into a battleground. His first major threat comes when he demands that Mara secure an interview with the legendary sailor Mario Cardi, warning her that failure will cost her job. Against all expectations, the interview is a huge success and dramatically boosts the show’s audience. Shortly afterward, however, Alec discovers something troubling: he has accidentally recorded Guillem speaking to an unknown woman about a plan to destroy the radio station from within.

Despite barely tolerating one another, Mara and Alec agree to a truce in order to uncover what is really happening. With the help of Lola, who returns to support them, they launch a secret investigation aimed at stopping their new boss’s plans.

As they work together to save the station, Mara and Alec’s relationship begins to change. Years of arguments, practical jokes, and rivalry gradually reveal a much deeper connection. A shared trip, evenings spent together outside the office, improvised dinners, and an unexpected first kiss force them both to acknowledge their feelings. During this process, Mara also discovers Alec’s past: years earlier, he had been a promising motorsport star whose career was cut short by a serious accident that left him with lasting emotional scars.

At the same time, conditions at the station continue to deteriorate. Guillem intensifies his campaign against the staff, orchestrates dismissals, and convinces the board of directors to open an investigation against Mara that ultimately costs her her position.

When everything seems lost, Candela, Guillem’s secretary, finally decides to tell the truth. She reveals that she has forged documents and signatures under Guillem’s orders. Armed with the evidence she has collected, Mara and her colleagues uncover the true scale of the conspiracy. The mysterious woman who has been secretly collaborating with Guillem turns out to be none other than Lola herself. Together, the two have been siphoning company funds, accumulating shares, and preparing to seize full control of the business before disappearing with the money.

With the help of Sonia Falconer, one of the company’s shareholders, Mara, Alec, and the rest of the team prepare one final move to expose them. During the station’s annual gala, just as Guillem and Lola believe they have finally won, Sonia publicly presents the evidence: fraudulent transfers, suspicious stock transactions, forged documents, and incriminating recordings. In front of the entire audience, the truth comes to light and the police arrest both conspirators.

Only then does Mara finally confront the source of her deepest fears. Years earlier, when she was beginning her professional career, Guillem sexually assaulted her, a trauma that has shaped her life ever since and one she has never truly been able to overcome.

With the threat finally neutralized, a new chapter begins. Sonia offers Mara the position of station director, but she declines, choosing instead to return to what she genuinely loves: radio and her connection with listeners. Rehired at Radio Ga Ga, she signs a new contract to host her own show, while Alec negotiates a sports program alongside her and takes on a new film segment as well.

With the station restored, the conspirators exposed, and the team reunited, Radio Ga Ga regains the spirit that once made it a family. And Mara realizes that when you are surrounded by the right people, even the wounds and fears that once seemed impossible to overcome no longer have control over your life.

She began writing stories during her school years and later started publishing her work on digital platforms, where she gradually built a loyal community of readers. In 2020, she was one of the winners of the Wattys Awards in the Young Adult Fiction category.

Radio Ga Ga is her second novel, a romantic comedy that blends youthful romance, humor, and mystery in a distinctive and highly appealing setting: the world of radio broadcasting. The love-hate relationship between the protagonists provides chemistry, energy, and a strong emotional engine, while the conspiracy storyline sustains the suspense and drives the narrative forward.

The novel’s audiovisual potential is especially strong due to its fast pace, comedic situations, and the evolution of its central romantic relationship. The contrast between the lighthearted romance and Mara’s deeper emotional struggles creates an engaging adaptation opportunity: contemporary, entertaining, and ideally suited for a young adult audience.
