Alejandro Morales

Scenic Rights is the audiovisual co-agency of Arte Publico Press.

Alejandro Morales, of Mexican origins, is a writer and professor of Chicano Studies at the University of California, Irvine.

He is an outstanding author of the Chicana literature, after publishing numerous works both in Spanish and in English. In them, Morales provides them with a personal perspective on the social Chicana reality.

Among his many novels, River of Angels is quite relevant: it is a story about two families of different ethnicities in Los Angeles, when the city was yet about to start its industrial development.

 

RELEVANT INFORMATION

Alejandro Morales was awarded with the Luis Leal Prize as an acknowledgement for the support to the Chicana culture. Furthermore, he is considered such a relevant chronicler of the Mexican-American reality due to his bicultural and bilingual heritage.
