BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Alexandra R. DeRuiz is a creative consultant, professor, researcher in sexuality and gender, and director of the program “Jauría Trans,” a virtual program that supports trans and non-binary people in Mexico City. In the early 2000s, she began performing political pieces about her experience as a “translatina” person who crossed the border into the United States, a term she coined herself and later recounted in her first autobiographical novel, Crucé la frontera con tacones. Previously, she published several essays on trans identities and the experiences of migrants in the United States.
