Héctor Aguilar Camín is a Mexican journalist, historian, and writer.
He holds a PhD in History from El Colegio de México. He has served as editor of the magazine Nexos and has collaborated with several media outlets. From 1990 to 1999, he was a member of the Council of the National Human Rights Commission.
In his works, he critically explores Mexico’s major historical processes, as well as the personal and family memories shaped within them, balancing the intimate with the public.
He has been awarded the National Prize for Cultural Journalism, the Medal of Merit of the State of Quintana Roo, the Mazatlán Prize for Literature, Chile’s Gabriela Mistral Medal, the Bellas Artes Medal (2017), among others, distinctions that highlight both his literary contribution and his intellectual commitment.
