Mayte López

Scenic Rights is the audiovisual co agency of Silvia Bastos Literary Agency.

Mayte López is a Mexican writer and translator. She obtained a master’s degree in Creative Writing from the University of New York (NYU) and a PhD in Latin-American Culture from the City University of New York (CUNY).

Her work, both tales and chronicles, has been published in magazines such as Temporales, Letras Libres, Los Bárbaros and ViceVersa, where she writes the column Tacones sobre hielo.

Currently she works as a professor in Lehman College (New York) and is part of the Pen/Faulkner Writers in Schools program.

 

RELEVANT INFORMATION

López was one of the finalists of the Tigre Juan Awards thanks to her latest novel, Sensación térmica. In addition, the author has been acclaimed for her masterful use of prose and her interest in bringing the reader closer to the reality of the Hispanic-American community in the United States.

About her writing style, Antonio Muñoz Molina has said: “Her writing is so agile both in narrative and the particular variations of different voices, they reveal what’s most difficult to have in narrative literature: a good ear for conversation”.
