Raquel Peláez is a Spanish journalist and writer. She graduated in Journalism from the University of Santiago de Compostela and earned a Master’s degree in Marketing from the London College of Communication. She began her professional career in regional newspapers and, since 2020, has been the deputy editor of S Moda, the fashion and trends magazine of El País.
Raquel Peláez specializes in consumer issues, mass culture, and urban anthropology. All her works are characterized by essays with a distinctly analytical and critical approach to various aspects of society. Her book Quiero y no puedo, a humorous and critical essay, explores the contradictions and superficialities of the pijo phenomenon in Spain. Its success has led to multiple reprints.
