Socorro Venegas is a Mexican writer with a degree in Social Communication and postgraduate studies in Literature and Cultural Policy. She has held various editorial and cultural promotion positions at institutions such as the Ricardo Garibay School and the Fondo de Cultura Económica.
Her work explores grief, absence, memory, and the relationship with the past, and is often inspired by autobiographical memories.
She has received the Benemérito de América National Poetry and Short Story Award (2002), the National Debut Novel Award (2004) for Será negra y blanca, and an Honorable Mention at the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Award (2010).
