Víctor Piñol has a unique gift: he can travel to the past, but only 83 seconds each time he experiences intense physical pain. At first he uses it to fix personal mistakes, but soon he discovers that his ability comes with a price—a much greater mission that could demand the ultimate sacrifice to prevent humanity’s collapse.

Víctor Piñol, a thirty-something man depressed and trapped in the past, discovers that he can travel back in time 83 seconds whenever he suffers intense physical pain. At first, he uses this gift to get rich through sports betting and gambling, until an encounter with a mysterious woman in Venice confronts him with the ethical dimension of his power: if he can change the past, shouldn’t he use it to prevent tragedies? Back in Madrid, overwhelmed by anxiety, he decides to change course. He begins recording future catastrophes in a blue notebook with the intention of intervening before they occur.

While working in television, he prevents his colleague Nerea from becoming a victim of harassment and starts a sincere relationship with her. But his secret is threatened when a journalist uncovers his trail of impossible victories in European casinos. Amid the chaos, Andoni Giraldo appears—an old man who can also travel through time. He explains the rules of the jump: each trip creates a separate timeline and leaves behind an inactive version of oneself. He invites Víctor to join the “Foundation 83,” which ensures responsible use of the gift. But Víctor, expecting a child with Nerea, chooses to live a normal life and leave his notebooks as the only testimony.

Decades later, in 2070, in a world devastated by climate change, Víctor—having accumulated over 400 years of life across five time cycles—decides to return to his adolescence in 1985 to rewrite the future from its origin. There, he reunites with his parents and childhood friends and tries to prevent the death of his best friend Mole. Once his personal debts are settled, he activates his final plan: to die in the real crash of the Madrid–Bilbao flight on February 19, 1985, which claimed 148 lives. He knows every technical detail of the disaster: the fog, the altitude error, the collision with an antenna on Mount Oiz. His goal is not only to die but to turn his death into an impossible-to-ignore signal. Along with Giraldo, he attempts to empty the plane by buying most of the tickets and leaves behind letters and precise predictions that, after the media impact, force the world to heed his message: there is still time to avoid catastrophe.

In the epilogue, his friends keep his legacy alive. And in 2015, a woman named Berta also experiences the 83 seconds: a new temporal consciousness is about to awaken.

RELEVANT INFORMATION: César González Antón is a journalist with extensive experience in the Spanish media sector and a contributor to various outlets. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences awarded him the Talent Prize for his successful professional career.

83 Seconds skillfully balances intimate drama with science fiction, masterfully weaving the premise of time travel with the protagonist’s emotions: lost love, guilt, nostalgia, friendship, and sacrifice. Instead of focusing on scientific paradoxes or spectacular effects, the story emphasizes the humanity of the protagonist, and his moral evolution gives the narrative great depth. It also stands out for its social critique, linking a dystopian future with the present.

From an audiovisual perspective, the story has enormous potential. Its temporal structure allows for a fragmented, rhythmic narrative, ideal for a high-impact series combining suspense, science fiction, and existential drama. The story also carries strong dramatic weight thanks to its human dimension and the deeply emotional relationships between the characters.
