A Fighting Chance

A true to life story of the hardships faced by young people from poverty-stricken neighborhoods.

17-year-old Mexican-American Miguel Angel trains every day after school at the Packing Shed. He dreams of becoming a worldwide-known boxing champion so he can get his family out of poverty.

However, the city is threatening to take the Packing Shed away from Coach, and that is something that Miguel is concerned about. His childhood friend, Beto, belongs to a criminal gang, and Miguel Angel is tempted to succumb to the wiles of easy money.

On the other hand, the protagonist starts dating Britney, a 16-year-old rich girl, whose father will kill them both if he finds out, because Miguel is not worthy of her.

Furthermore, Britney gets pregnant, an added burden to Miguel’s difficult current situation. Despite everything, the protagonist has to learn to deal with every single obstacle of his life.
