Sierra, a student passionate about animals, is forced to work at a wildlife conservation center with Kang, the owner’s son, after years of rivalry. Can they turn their hatred into a love story? The new romantic novel by one of the most promising young adult authors in Spain.

In her first year of university, Sierra, a biology student passionate about defending animals—idealistic and strong-willed—meets Kang, the son of the powerful founder of the Imugi Sanctuary, a wildlife conservation center. They clash from the very beginning: Sierra accuses him of using his privileged position to win a scholarship he doesn’t need, and he calls her prejudiced. From then on, the tension between them is undeniable.

Over time, Sierra moves out on her own and shares an apartment with Lluvia, an extroverted and empathetic young woman, and Trinity, a popular and fun influencer. Both, with their more outgoing personalities, help Sierra come out of her shell. Three years later, in their final year, Sierra and Kang earn the coveted internships at the Imugi Sanctuary: she will work with the tigers, he with the dolphins, and their friend Cece—sweet but determined—will serve as a veterinarian at the sanctuary’s Farm.

During the internship, Kang tries to prove to his father—a stern businessman who never approved of his calling—that he can stand on his own, while Sierra earns the respect of Chetana, the demanding head of Tiger Valley. Her bond with Dokkaebi, a pregnant tigress who cannot be released into the wild, becomes the emotional core of the story. Meanwhile, Jess Tomita, an insistent and controversial journalist, begins spreading accusations of animal trafficking at Imugi, generating tension among the sanctuary’s staff.

As suspicions grow and workdays become increasingly complicated, the rivalry between Sierra and Kang morphs into an almost inevitable attraction: an argument in an elevator turns into their first kiss, and during a company trip to a resort they share their first night of passion. However, the sanctuary’s secrets begin to surface. Sierra discovers that Loretta Larenty, the legendary tiger keeper she always admired, was involved in an animal trafficking network.

While Sierra investigates in secret, Kang reconciles with his father, unaware that she distrusts his family. When she finds out, she feels betrayed. Everything explodes at the end of the internship: Sierra discovers that Bastian, the charismatic but shady head veterinarian, is the true mastermind behind the animal trafficking. With help from Cece and Chetana, Sierra manages to stop the theft of Dokkaebi’s cubs, while Kang learns that his uncle, Seung Hu, is the one running the network from the shadows. Zola, his friend and roommate—apparently just a regular student—reveals himself to be an undercover FBI agent.

The story culminates with the downfall of the guilty parties and the sanctuary saved. In the epilogue, Sierra and Kang, now a couple, decide to continue working together at Imugi. One year later, Loretta reunites with Dokkaebi; and ten years after that, all the couples in the group celebrate Christmas together, surrounded by love, laughter, and new generations. After all, even the darkest secrets can become second chances.
