He’s my man (Es mi hombre)

Don Antonio is a man in debt, living in misery. He has no other choice but to do any kind of job just to survive along with his daughter Leonor. One day, thanks to his friend Mariano, he gets a job as a security guard in a casino frequented by criminals. Antonio ends up scaring away the thieves and, as a reward for his work, he receives a small capital that will have to be defended in the end by the main character’s daughter.

 

RELEVANT FACTS: It has been adapted several times to cinema: in 1934 by the Spanish director Benito Perojo; and in 1966 by Rafael Gil, also Spanish. In 1969, it was made for the TVE program “La risa Española”; and in 1977 to “Estudio 1”.

Arniches was part of the brilliant Generation of ’98, and comedies were his specialty. Many of his plays were adapted to cinema.
