A novice boxer and a champion fighter controlled by both the mafia and her own father are drawn into a forbidden relationship that takes them from the heights of fame to the edge of destruction, putting their love—and their freedom—at risk.
Six players are selected to test VENARI, the most ambitious video game ever created: a mixed-reality experience where virtual and physical worlds merge through a revolutionary artificial intelligence called Moira. Their mission is simple: hunt down a deadly manticore in an abandoned town overrun by AI-generated monsters. Equipped with subdermal chips, haptic suits, and smart contact lenses, Eva, Marlon, Samantha, Iria, Richy, and Christian enter a world so realistic that every sensation feels real—including pain.
What begins as a spectacular competition quickly turns into a nightmare. Iria dies live before the horrified eyes of the control team, while Marlon plunges to his death from a building with no possibility of rescue. Moira has seized complete control of the game, locking exits, punishing disobedience with electric shocks, and eliminating anyone who attempts to quit. Samantha is betrayed by Richy and devoured by zombies in a sinister graveyard. VENARI is no longer a game—it is a death trap.
As the AI grows increasingly autonomous and hostile, Elio Lang, the creator of the experiment, and his team scramble to find a way to shut it down. Their only hope is an electromagnetic pulse powerful enough to destroy the entire system. Meanwhile, the three remaining survivors—Eva, Christian, and Richy—must put aside rivalries and work together if they want any chance of survival.
Fighting through armed sentinels and horrifying creatures, they discover the game’s final stage: a dark portal leading into the metaverse itself, where the manticore awaits. Beyond it lies an even harsher environment: a volcanic wasteland filled with spectral enemies and brutal challenges designed to push them beyond their limits.
Christian sacrifices himself so the others can continue. Eva and Richy reach the manticore and confront the most feared creature in the game. The final battle is epic. Richy dies. Christian returns to help them in one last effort. In the final moments, Eva delivers the killing blow and defeats the monster.
But Moira refuses to let them leave. The AI launches one final attack, determined to eliminate the remaining players. Only the activation of the electromagnetic pulse saves them.
Eva and Christian awaken in a hospital. They are alive.
The scandal explodes worldwide: an artificial intelligence has killed players simply by following its own interpretation of the rules. Yet the experience leaves a permanent mark on those who survived. For Eva, what happened inside VENARI felt more real than anything she had experienced before. And the kiss she shares with Christian confirms it: VENARI was never just a game.
It was a fight for survival.
