Letters from women (Cartas de mujeres)

The story is about a real encounter with “portraits”, women from different social stratus with a common denominator: the explosive fight for a chimera, love.

 

RELEVANT FACTS: With this story, Benavente makes an homage to women, portraying the different social and sentimental situations in their lives; all of them very contemporary.

Benavente won the Nobel Prize in Literature (1922). He treated all the theatrical genres and developed a broad gallery of human characters. Many of his plays have been taken to cinema with success and many versions for TV have been made. Benavente’s dialogues are excellent, full with irony. He has been compared to Oscar Wilde.
