With a precarious job, a crumbling apartment, and a recent breakup, Delia feels she has hit rock bottom—until her latest fling, Angie, turns up dead in the building entrance and decides to move in as a ghost in her living room. Thus begins a supernatural romcom that is as chaotic as it is funny and addictive.
Delia Agós is an almost-thirty-year-old convinced she has failed at everything: her ex-girlfriend Elba leaves her just before they are about to sign a mortgage, her job is a dead end, and the duplex she buys out of spite is a monument to disaster. In the middle of a millennial crisis—that age when everyone else seems to have life figured out except you—she has no idea that life still has a delirious, supernatural, and surprisingly romantic surprise in store, one that will change her forever.
The protagonist of that surprise is Angie Samper, a tattooed, shameless woman with whom Delia spends one night of wild sex. The next day, Angie turns up dead on the landing… and as a ghost in Delia’s living room. From that moment on, they are trapped in a forced cohabitation: what begins as a spectral enemies-to-lovers dynamic becomes a chaotic and deeply human relationship. Delia struggles to keep her life afloat while Angie, unable to accept her ghostly condition, turns the house into a continuous paranormal disaster.
With the help of a medium, they discover that ghosts are bound to buildings by unpaid debts—and Angie’s is enormous. The only way to settle it is by working as a civil servant in the Afterlife, a bureaucratic system as absurd as it is strict, where ghosts have rules, bosses, and protocols to follow. While Delia fights not to lose her job or her sanity, Angie dives—literally and metaphorically—into a past marked by abandonment and broken relationships. From friction comes affection, and from incompatibility emerges a romance as unlikely as it is real.
The situation explodes when Angie is put on trial in Purgatory, accused of multiple ghostly infractions. There they uncover the truth: the supposed debt keeping Angie trapped never existed. The building—a playful, self-aware entity—has manipulated contracts to retain souls inside and turn their lives into an absurd comedy.
With the fraud exposed, Angie is set free. She chooses to stay with Delia, and together they rebuild the duplex after a fire. Everything seems to fall into place: Delia gets her life back on track, and Angie finds stability working in the spectral bureaucracy. But on the first anniversary of Angie’s death, the House intervenes with a final twist: Delia dies accidentally after falling down the stairs and becomes a ghost herself.
Their chaotic love story is destined to continue: two ghosts, one duplex, and an eternity ahead.
