Quirós’ house (La casa de Quirós)

Mr. Gil de Quirós, the main character of the story, lives in a small town. He is a gentleman of old customs and proud of his lineage. He is a man with a complicated personality who behaves like a tyrant to everyone who is around him. The conflict appears in the story when Sol, Quirós’ naïve daughter, falls in love with a young and rich man, but a commoner.

 

RELEVANT FACTS: The story was adapted to cinema in Argentina in 1937, directed by Luis Mogila Barth. It was adapted to television as well in 1972, directed by Gabriel Ibáñez.

Arniches was part of the brilliant Generation of ’98, and comedies were his specialty. Many of his plays were adapted to cinema.
