Secret dialogue (Diálogo secreto)

This story is about the drama of an art critic, who is constantly trying to hide a secret: he is colour-blind. If this secret is revealed, his brilliant career will come to an end. Things get more complicated when his daughter discovers the truth, after a friend of hers committed suicide: he was a painter and received a bad critic from the main character.

 

RELEVANT FACTS: This play was premiered with great success in the Theatre Victoria Eugenia of San Sebastián in 1984. It is tremendously modern: the main character goes through an existentialist crisis. Besides, the author questions the hypocrisy of society.

Buero Vallejo is the great theatrical author of the twentieth century. He won the Premio Miguel de Cervantes (1986) and the Premio Nacional de las Letras Españolas (1996). In addition, he has received in four occasions the Premio Nacional de Teatro and also the Honorary Max Theatre Award, among many other distinctions.
