In the second installment, Lost in Time, Nora Harris inherits her grandmother Beatrice’s beloved café on a quiet stretch of Front Street in Brooklyn after her death. While preparing to reopen it, Nora discovers a hidden photograph from 1965 beneath the floorboards showing Beatrice beside a woman who looks exactly like Nora—someone she has never heard of.

One evening at eleven o’clock, Jacob, a mysterious man who claims to have travelled all the way from New Jersey simply to drink her hot chocolate, visits the café. He repeats the same ritual for six consecutive nights, gradually forming a curious connection with Nora. He tells her that the woman in the photograph was named Kate Rivers and suggests that she may, in fact, be Nora herself.

On the seventh night, determined to uncover Jacob’s true identity, Nora follows him into an alleyway where a time portal has been waiting for her all along. She is transported to the 1960s, when her grandmother was still running the café. There, Beatrice mistakes her for Kate Rivers, the waitress who never arrived to work there. In The Memory of Time, the third novel of the trilogy, Chloe Ackerman flees to Greening Island, a remote place in the middle of nowhere, after a series of tragic events, bad decisions and a death threat. The island is haunted by a dark episode from its past. During the quiet off-season, when the Raventhorp Hotel stands empty of guests, Chloe hides there under the care of her aunt Lydia, avoiding the hotel’s staff as much as possible.

One day she encounters a man dressed in clothes from another era who introduces himself as Isaac Hamsun. To her astonishment, he also claims to be staying at Raventhorp and insists that he is the hotel’s new manager—in 1928, the year in which many people died there. As she falls in love with Isaac, who reveals the real reason he has come to the island, she becomes determined to prevent the tragic deaths and rewrite the memory of time.
