This story of adolescent awakening and the discovery of sex. Recalled from adult memories, takes us to the summer in a city up north. Ludi’s father is in prison because of political issues and women troubles, therefore there is no parental control: summer is his. Ludi will initiate himself in adulthood. A beautiful woman guides him through unexplored paths, towards a joyful love with no future.

His uncle obliges him to take Greek classes, in which he translates Plato’s dialogues.  He also learns from a former boxer converted into a friar.

Its author won the Herralde Novel Prize, one of the most prestigious in Spanish language prose fiction, awarded before to Javier Marías, Sergio Pitol and Roberto Bolaño.
