The domination exerted by the few, the dignitaries, contrasts with the people\u2019s knowhow, who see, powerless, the control these men have over the political and public life of the commune.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong>RELEVANT FACTS: <\/strong>It is a sharp critique to the political system during the Restoration using a satire in which all characters, in line with the system, are perfectly portrayed. Therefore, the work is an excellent testimony of an era strongly contested by intellectuals and also, as in this case, with much brilliance.\r\n\r\nBenavente won the <strong>Nobel Prize in Literature<\/strong> in 1922. He treated all the theatrical genres and developed a broad gallery of human characters. Many of his plays have been taken to cinema with success and many versions for TV have been made. Benavente\u2019s dialogues are excellent, full with irony.
