People from her social environment call Matilde \u201cTitania\u201d, comparing her destiny to the destiny of the Shakespearian character from <em>A Midsummer Night's Dream<\/em>, who falls in love with a young workman because of a cruel spell.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong>RELEVANT FACTS<\/strong>: In this story, Benavente illustrates the true potential of love: its lack of limits. Furthermore, it is more than obvious the influence of Shakespeare in this particular work of Benavente. The author places Shakespearian Titania in a completely different environment, giving the character and the story in general a tragicomic shade.\r\n\r\nBenavente won the <strong>Nobel Prize in<\/strong> <strong>Literature<\/strong> in 1922. He treated all the theatrical genres and developed a broad gallery of human characters. Many of his plays have been taken to cinema with success and many versions for TV have been made. Benavente\u2019s dialogues are excellent, full with irony.
