It is also the detailed story of the turbulent and bloody years that took Spain from a dictatorship into democracy.\r\n\r\nBorn in Madrid in 1944 in a family of journalists, and graduated in Literature and Journalism at the age of 19, Cebri\u00e1n stepped into the main newsrooms of the time. He started working as editor-in-chief of the <em>Pueblo <\/em>newspaper and then, at the early age of 20, Cebri\u00e1n became subdirector of the <em>Informaciones <\/em>and <em>Cuadernos para el di\u00e1logo<\/em> newspapers. He also worked for a short period in the news programmes of RTVE (Spanish National TV) as news service manager. He was the first director of the daily newspaper <em>El <\/em>Pa\u00eds, co-founded with Jes\u00fas Polanco. <em>El Pa\u00eds<\/em> rapidly became one of the main newspapers in Spain, and the bestselling one in the country.\r\n\r\nThe constant rivalry for the power over the newspaper gave way to several confrontations, like ex-vice-president Manuel Fraga\u2019s disappointment because <em>El Pa\u00eds<\/em> was \u201cnot such a liberal newspaper\u201d; or the conspiracies of the national counselor of the Fracoist Movement and Spanish ambassador, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda de Areilza, for feeling \u201ccheated\u201d with regards to the intended target of <em>El Pa\u00eds<\/em>.\r\n\r\nCebri\u00e1n also gives room to his work as CEO of the Prisa group, the largest media group of informative, cultural and educational content in Spain and Latin-America even today.\r\n\r\nThese were very intense years in Cebri\u00e1n\u2019s life. He suffered the terrorist attack to <em>El Pa\u00eds <\/em>newsroom; he played a main role as repository of messages and threats during the kidnapping of Antonio Mar\u00eda de Oriol y Urquijo and General Villaescusa \u2013in the middle of the conspiracy of the extreme-right wing against the democrats\u2013, and as intermediary in the kidnapping of deputy Javier Rup\u00e9rez at the hands of the ETA terrorist goup.\r\n\r\n<em>Front Page <\/em>perfectly reflects the tension on the streets in the middle of a turbulent political transition, the undercover confrontation for the control over <em>El Pa\u00eds<\/em>, and the 1983 coup d\u2019etat that threatened with bringing democracy down and bringing a totalitarian government back to Spain.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong>RELEVANT DATA<\/strong>: <em>Front Page<\/em> are the definite memoirs of Juan Luis Cebri\u00e1n, one of the main figures in Spanish journalism at national and international level. The work starred the headlines of all the national media.\r\n\r\nAmong the many journalistic awards given to Cebri\u00e1n, there are the <strong>New York World Press Review Award to the International Director of the Year<\/strong>, the <strong>Spanish National Journalism Award<\/strong>, the <strong>F. D. Roosevelt Four Freedom Foundation Medal to the Freedom of Expression<\/strong>, the <strong>Medal of Honour of the University of Missouri<\/strong>, the\u00a0 <strong>International Trento Award of Journalism and Communication<\/strong>, and the <strong>Joaqu\u00edn Chamorro Award to the Freedom of Expression<\/strong>.\r\n\r\nThe Order of Bernardo O\u2019Higgins granted Cebri\u00e1n the <strong>distinction of Grand Officer<\/strong>, the highest distinction the Chilean government gives to the most important foreign citizens for their contribution to strengthen ties between two countries (Spain and Chile).
