Holly, an avid and passionate crime novel reader wants to follow in her mother's footsteps, so she decides to investigate the murder on her own.\r\n\r\nHer classmate, Xander Herrera, became one of the main suspects, given that he had what appeared to be traces of blood on his hands and everyone had witnessed the teacher humiliating him in front of the entire class. His effort to prove his innocence is almost as great as his need to solve the crime before Holly does.\r\n\r\nAfter being cleared of the crime, Xander and Holly continue to investigate separately, which leads them to a number of suspects, including Coach DiGeronimo, who they had seen arguing with Friedman, and a mysterious person who had met with him days before his death. While on their search, a second murder occurs: the school's guidance counselor was found dead in her car. Holly and Xander are forced to put an end to their differences and work as a team. They put their minds together in order to find the culprit as soon as possible.\r\n\r\nIn the end, Xander finds a trophy from a Mission Venus nightclub dance contest, which allows them to fit all the pieces of the mystery together. Gorney, the trainer's assistant, is the killer and her killing spree is far from over.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong>RELEVANT DATA<\/strong>: Richie Narv\u00e1ez is the author of <em>Holly Hernandez and the Death of Disco<\/em>, a fun teen mystery thriller set in 1979 New York, with plenty of references, such as <em>Saturday Night Fever<\/em>, <em>Charlie's Angels<\/em>, or the <em>Nancy Drew Mystery Stories<\/em> literary saga.\r\n\r\n<em>Holly Hernandez and the Death of Disco <\/em>has been nominated for both the <strong>Agatha<\/strong> and <strong>Anthony <\/strong>Awards. In addition, the author is a winner of the <strong>Spinetingler Award for best anthology<\/strong>. He has been president of the New York Chapter of Mystery Writers of America, artist-in-residence at the Bronx Council on the Arts, and a judge for PEN America's Open Book Awards.
