Betrayed by Ernesto, the young woman's lover, the villagers accuse them of witchcraft, destroy their home, and expel them from the town.\r\n\r\nYears later, \u00c1ngela, a Social Anthropology student, investigates the \u201cLegend of Malamor\u201d from Almahue for her university project. The legend tells that a witch named Ray\u00e9n cursed the town so that no one could love, and whoever did would die.\r\n\r\nOn the day of her presentation, \u00c1ngela discovers that her friend Patricia has stolen her topic and traveled to the town to continue the research. Hurt by the betrayal, \u00c1ngela ends her relationship with Patricia. However, one day she receives a disturbing message from her friend asking for help.\r\n\r\n\u00c1ngela embarks on a journey to Almahue, a place full of mysteries, to save Patricia and discover the truth behind the curse that keeps the town trapped, performing an annual ceremony where they burn a figure of the witch to prevent her return.\r\n\r\nOn her journey, \u00c1ngela will find friendship and love with Fabi\u00e1n, facing the curse that threatens those who fall in love.\r\n\r\nIn <em>The Root of Evil<\/em>, \u00c1ngela has decided to stay in Almahue to be with Fabi\u00e1n without fear and without the shadow of the curse, as Fabi\u00e1n no longer depends on the potions he needed to relieve the pain caused by the spell. The cursed tree appears to be miraculously recovering, heralding that Almahue can finally live in peace.\r\n\r\nBut the calm is interrupted by the arrival of Rosa, a mysterious stranger, who reveals that the darkness of the place has its origins long before the \u201cLegend of Malamor,\u201d when Ray\u00e9n, her sister, ordered the man known as the \u201cDecapitator\u201d to murder her.\r\n\r\nRay\u00e9n, thirstier for revenge than ever, will not stop until she returns to destroy Almahue and the relationship between \u00c1ngela and Fabi\u00e1n, who must begin a race against time to find her.\r\n\r\nIn <em>The Tree of Life<\/em>, the town of Almahue is destroyed by an earthquake, and the legendary tree in the center of the square is dry and dead, symbolizing the end of an era and the beginning of change.\r\n\r\nWith Fabi\u00e1n trapped underground, \u00c1ngela embarks on a desperate mission to rescue him. Determined to prevent fate from separating them again, \u00c1ngela ventures into the depths, willing to sacrifice her life to save him.\r\n\r\nBut a new legend comes to light thanks to Rosa, who decides to reveal secrets of the past. With the new information, \u00c1ngela gathers the strength to confront Ray\u00e9n and the Decapitator in an epic odyssey through the Chilean lands, which ends with Ray\u00e9n's death and a happy ending for \u00c1ngela and Fabi\u00e1n, who start their own family and finally live in peace.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong>RELEVANT INFORMATION:<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe first novel of the <em>Malamor Trilogy<\/em> was a finalist for the <strong>Altazor Award<\/strong>.\r\n\r\nJos\u00e9 Ignacio Valenzuela, the author, was selected by About.com of The New York Times as <strong>one of the 10 best Latin American writers under 40<\/strong>. He is the creator of the successful Netflix series <em>Who Killed Sara?<\/em> and has published more than thirty novels and written thirteen television series and films in Chile, Mexico, the United States, and Puerto Rico.\r\n\r\nHe has been nominated for an <strong>Emmy Award<\/strong> as a screenwriter for the series <em>Amores<\/em>, in addition to receiving the <strong>Best Screenwriter of
