Alongside her husband, Alberto, she devises a ruthless plan: they will make it seem as if Antonela and her husband, Firmino, have disappeared.\r\n\r\nThey execute their plan by murdering Firmino and committing Antonela to a psychiatric institution, bribing the director to become an accomplice. Inside, Antonela\u2019s identity is erased. She is renamed \u201cEduarda\u201d and subjected to heavy sedation and electroshock therapy. Disoriented and unable to distinguish reality from hallucinations, Antonela communicates with the spirits of her deceased mother and husband, who encourage her to fight for her freedom.\r\n\r\nHer chance finally comes when M\u00e1rcia,her biological daughter, unaware of her true origins, is hired as a new psychiatrist at the institution.
