Before reaching the age of twenty-one, he will have killed more than twenty men, his deadly aim and fearless nature making him both feared and admired across the frontier.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-GB\">Billy finds an unexpected refuge in John Tunstall, an English rancher who teaches him the values of honor and loyalty and becomes a father figure to the young outlaw. But when Tunstall is treacherously murdered by the powerful Murphy and Dolan faction, Billy unleashes his fury. Taking command of the Regulators, he becomes a central figure in the bloody Lincoln County War, a conflict marked by ambushes, gunfights, and the killing of Sheriff Brady. The violence transforms Billy into both a notorious fugitive and a folk hero in a land where justice is written with bullets.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-GB\">Amid this turbulent life, Billy meets Melba, a young mixed-race woman who captivates him. Their romance is born in tragedy: during a robbery, Billy shoots and kills her uncle Bernstein rather than back down. Devastated, Melba nonetheless finds herself drawn to the outlaw\u2019s irresistible charisma. She eventually becomes his partner, hidden away with him in Fort Sumner. There, among passionate nights and whispered promises, tenderness and violence coexist. Melba prays for Billy every day, while Billy watches her closely, fearing both her love and the possibility of betrayal.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-GB\">But the net is tightening. Pat Garrett, once Billy\u2019s friend and drinking companion, accepts the sheriff\u2019s badge and takes on the mission of bringing him to justice. Despite their mutual respect, both men know that only one of them will survive. Billy is eventually betrayed, captured, and sentenced to hang. For a moment, the law appears to have prevailed.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-GB\">Yet Billy the Kid refuses to go quietly. In one of the most legendary escapes in Western history, he kills two guards and rides to freedom, laughing in the face of justice.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-GB\">His final refuge is once again Fort Sumner and the embrace of Melba. Together they live like an outlaw husband and wife, even though fate has already written the ending. On the night of July 14, 1881, Pat Garrett surprises Billy in the darkness and kills him with a single shot.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-GB\">At just twenty-one years old, the man dies\u2014but the legend is born. Sender was not only a journalist but also one of the most important Spanish writers of the 20th century, winning Spain\u2019s <b>National Prize for Literature<\/b> in 1935. Exiled after the Spanish Civil War, he spent much of his life in Mexico and the United States.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<i><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The Teenage Outlaw<\/span><\/i><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> is one of Sender\u2019s most celebrated works. He transforms the biography of Billy the Kid into a vivid narrative filled with action, romance, and tragedy, creating an epic Western. The novel contains all the elements of a gripping cinematic story: an orphan who becomes a myth, violent wars and personal vendettas, a love story shaped by danger and passion, and the final showdown with Sheriff Pat Garrett.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span lang=\"EN-GB\">Although Billy the Kid\u2019s life has been adapted many times, Sender brings a distinctive perspective by emphasizing Billy\u2019s
