Claudia is a solitary girl haunted by a tragedy that has followed her since childhood: she was the only survivor of a group of children who disappeared in the village of Fresneda, Teruel, among them her twin sister, Candela. Guilt and grief accompany her every day, to the point that she begins to confuse her own memories with her sister\u2019s. Although she still feels her presence, Candela is no longer a comfort but an unsettling figure who torments her.<\/p>\r\n

Everything changes when a new family arrives in town. Among them is Sara, a girl her age who sparks her curiosity. After an initial clash with Sara\u2019s mother, Claudia is invited to dinner. Surprisingly, she feels at ease and connected, and ends up sharing her story\u2014and the village\u2019s most feared legend: that of the Whistler. The Whistler was a traveling musician who, during the winter, left his daughters in Fresneda under the care of the villagers. One particularly harsh winter of famine, the girls were left to die. When he returned, he was told they had gone into the forest. Legend says that after searching for months, the Whistler made a pact with a dark force: it would allow him to continue searching for his daughters until he found them, in exchange for delivering people at regular intervals. The only condition: he could never return to the village, where his daughters were truly buried. Since then, the Whistler has wandered the forest, trapping anyone who crosses his path, unaware that his daughters lie buried in the village.<\/p>\r\n

Sara does not believe the story\u2026 until, while exploring the forest to take photographs, she nearly becomes his next victim. Claudia saves her at the last moment. From then on, Sara becomes obsessed with solving the mystery and pulls Claudia into it. They visit the old bus where the children disappeared, a place charged with funerary energy. Inside it, there is a doorway to the beyond; fog and ghosts invade the space. Claudia and Sara barely escape.<\/p>\r\n

Claudia is ready to give up, but Sara cannot: her little brother has vanished in the forest. They decide to act. At night, they enter the cemetery, dig up the bones of the Whistler\u2019s daughters, and carry them into the forest. Guided by her intuition, Claudia places the remains inside the bus while Sara searches for her brother. The world begins to collapse: the Whistler finally finds peace upon reuniting with his daughters\u2019 bones, and the doorway to the beyond closes\u2014but drags Claudia in with it.<\/p>\r\n

There, she reunites with Candela and understands the truth: it was not her sister clinging to her, but herself who did not know how to let go. By accepting her sister\u2019s death, Claudia frees herself. With the help of the ghost children, she manages to escape just before the mountain and the doorway to the beyond swallow the bus forever.<\/p>\r\n
