Her work has been compared to that of William Faulkner, Juan Carlos Onetti, Carson McCullers and Flannery O'Connor.\r\n\r\nHer early formation as a Professor of Literature at the Instituto de Ense\u00f1anza Superior de Paran\u00e1 was the starting point of her already consolidated literary career.\r\n\r\nEver since her first publications, Almada's books have been highly acclaimed by critics and have been reprinted and translated in numerous countries.\r\n\r\nIn addition to her work as a writer, she is one of the founders of the Salvaje Federal bookstore in Buenos Aires, which focuses on literature written and published in the provinces of Argentina.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong>RELEVANT INFORMATION:<\/strong>\r\n\r\nHer works have been translated into several languages, such as French, English, Italian, Portuguese and German, among others.\r\n\r\nSelva Almada is the winner of important awards such as the<strong> First Book Award in Edinburgh<\/strong> and the <strong>IILA-Literature Prize in Rome. <\/strong>\r\n\r\nShe was also a <strong>runner-up<\/strong> for the <strong>Rodolfo Walsh Award<\/strong> for her work <em>Dead Girls<\/em>, and a <strong>finalist<\/strong> for the <strong>Tigre Juan Award<\/strong> and the <strong>Mario Vargas Llosa Biennial Novel Award.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nHer work <em>El viento que arrasa (The Wind that Sweeps)<\/em> has a film adaptation, premiered at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nCritics say:\r\n\r\n\"One of the greatest renovators of the Hispano-American novel\". <em>El Cultural digital<\/em> newspaper\r\n\r\n\u201cIn her realism of magical repercussions, Onetti and the Borges of\u202fThe South\u202fcome together with the inflamed shadow of Horacio Quiroga, but the quality and resolve of her prose produce a power of suggestion that is unique to Selva Almada\u201d.\u202f<em>El Pa\u00eds<\/em> newspaper\r\n\r\n\u201cWhat seems fantastical soon turns hyperrealistic, a bit like in the stories of Rulfo or Sara Gallardo\u201d. <em>La Naci\u00f3n<\/em> newspaper\r\n\r\n\u201cOriginal and full of novelty, Selva Almada has seduced with a style which is both poetic and realistic.
