Even though he firstly worked as a designer and art director in films and theatre plays, he soon started directing his own creations.\r\n\r\nHis first solo film was <em>The Silly Age<\/em>, <strong>nominated to the Spanish Goya Awards<\/strong> and <strong>selected to represent Cuba in the Academy Awards<\/strong>. The movie was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and awarded in many other international events.\r\n\r\nGiroud also directed <em>Omerta,<\/em> a Coral Award winner in the Havana International Film Festival. The following year, Omerta was premiered at the San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival.\r\n\r\nHis most recent work is <em>The Companion<\/em>, acknowledged as <strong>the Best Project in Development in the LXI San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival<\/strong>. <em>The Companion<\/em> was also awarded <strong>the Julio Alejandro SGAE Award for the Best Ibero-American Script<\/strong>. Furthermore, it was also <strong>selected to represent Cuba in the Academy Awards<\/strong> and <strong>nominated to the Platino Awards and the Forqu\u00e9 Awards<\/strong>. Giroud was given <strong>the Audience Award in Miami, Toulouse, Malaga and Havana, as well as the Best Script Award in the HFF New York. <\/strong>\r\n\r\nAmong his most recent projects, one can find <em>Partag\u00e1s,<\/em> based on the novel <em>Los \u00faltimos d\u00edas de Jaime Partag\u00e1s<\/em>, by Miguel A. Sabater.
