Alcanz\u00f3 renombre internacional con la publicaci\u00f3n de Do\u00f1a B\u00e1rbara y lleg\u00f3 a la presidencia de Venezuela en 1947. Derrocado por un golpe militar, continu\u00f3 escribiendo desde el exilio hasta su regreso al pa\u00eds a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s. Fue el primer presidente de la Comisi\u00f3n Interamericana de Derechos Humanos.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong>INFORMACI\u00d3N RELEVANTE<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<em>Do\u00f1a B\u00e1rbara<\/em> es considerada la novela central de la literatura venezolana.\r\n\r\nHa recibido el <strong>Premio Nacional de Literatura de Venezuela<\/strong>, nombrado <strong>doctor honoris causa por la Universidad de Columbia<\/strong> y fue <strong>nominado 9 veces al Premio Nobel de Literatura<\/strong>.
