A bone-chilling tradition. Two children missing in the forest. A dead body.
Claudia, a journalist in her thirties, returns after having been away for many years to her hometown outside of Burgos, Spain. Her goal is to investigate one of the most barbaric annual traditions in the area called The Release. This tradition consists of gathering between 4 or 5 twelve-year-olds from the village and letting them loose for a whole night in the forest.
Claudia wants to write a powerful article that will make her stand out as an investigative journalist, but the town is reluctant to answer her questions. The only one who engages with her is the town’s pharmacist: a childhood friend with whom she manages to reconnect.
However, this year, something goes wrong during the celebration of The Release: two of the children disappear. Claudia immediately goes out to look for them and starts an investigation parallel to that of the police. Everything suggests that the culprit could be a mysterious hermit of the forest, a strange man who lives isolated from society. However, legends speak of the existence of an evil entity that lurks among the trees.
A race against time between a police case and a journalistic investigation to find out what really happened that night, in what could be the last celebration of The Release.
