When Ginebra attempts to return to her own time, Arturo follows her through the portal moments before it closes. The result: a sixteenth-century gentleman trapped in the twenty-first century for a month, until the next new moon allows the portal to reopen.

Becoming his reluctant tour guide, Ginebra must teach him how to survive in a world of cars, smartphones, escalators, and hamburgers. As Arturo struggles to understand why people talk to themselves through headphones or how dating can exist without the intention of marriage, the pair find themselves caught in one absurd situation after another. Yet beneath their differences they discover something they share: neither is living the life they truly want.

Arturo is condemned to an arranged marriage with Candela de Castro and destined to fight in a war he has no desire to join. Ginebra, meanwhile, feels she has abandoned all her dreams. Little by little, he helps her regain confidence in herself, while she introduces him to the possibility of choosing his own future.

When she finally reaches him, a kiss breaks the spell and restores his memories. Together they decide to run away and fight for their future, but an unexpected betrayal places them in the sights of Arturo’s father’s men and leaves the young knight gravely wounded.

To save him, Isa and Teresa make a final sacrifice. They use every last trace of their magic to reopen the portal one final time before destroying it forever. Back in the present, Arturo spends weeks hovering between life and death until he finally awakens.

Now, with no possibility of returning to his own century, Arturo must learn how to build a new life in the modern world. Ginebra, after suffering a major professional setback, decides not to abandon her dream of becoming a paleontologist. For the first time, neither of them is bound by the expectations of others. Both are free to choose who they want to be and, most importantly, with whom they want to share the journey.
