Alexis Ravelo was a Canary Islands writer and teacher, regarded as one of the most solid and distinctive voices of contemporary crime fiction in the Spanish language.

Self-taught and with studies in Philosophy and creative writing, he developed a body of work deeply marked by social criticism and urban realism. He published novels, short story collections, and children’s literature, although his name became especially associated with the crime fiction genre.

Throughout his career, Alexis Ravelo received numerous awards, among them the City of Getafe Crime Novel Prize, the Hammett Award for Best Crime Novel, the Tormo Prize at Las Casas Ahorcadas, and the Café Gijón Novel Prize.
