Eloy Urroz is a Mexican author -even though he was born in New York-. He belongs to the so-called Crack Generation. He graduated in Hispanic Studies, and he currently works as professor of Latin-American literature at the South Carolina University.

As a writer, his most outstanding works are those detective stories and thriller novels. He also writes poetry, like Ver de viento, Yo soy ella (Las impurezas del blanco), and Poemas en exhibición.

Critics have remarked several influences in Urroz’s works: firstly, Sigmund Freud as regards voyeurism, incest and repressed bisexuality; secondly D.H. Lawrence’s model in the way Urroz speaks about love; finally, D. Quixote regarding the polyphonic narration and intertextuality.
