Javier Gutiérrez is a Spanish author who received his degree in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid and worked as both an economist and editor. His novel, A Good Guy (Un buen chico) has been received by critics as “hypnotic” and “unsettling”.

The authors that most influence his writing are Coetzee, Cormac McCarthy and Ian McEwan.

 

RELEVANT INFORMATION

Gutiérrez is considered by the critics as one of the most interesting literary voices today. His novel Un buen chico has been published in four countries (Spain, France, Portugal, and Italy) and was adapted to a theater play in Canada.

With his first novel, he was able to win the VII Ópera Prima of New Narrators Award. Shortly after, he won the Salvador García Aguilar Award, and he was also the winner of the José Saramago short story contest, besides being a finalist for the Tiflos Short Stories Award.
