Laura Gallego

Scenic Rights is the audiovisual co-agency of Antonia Kerrigan Literary Agency.

Laura Gallego studied Hispanic Philology at the University of Valencia and she has a PhD in Medieval Literature and Chivalric Romances.

She started writing when she was eleven years old, but none of her works were published until she was twenty-one, when she won the El Barco de Vapor Award. Nowadays, she dedicates her time to writing and to answering her fan mail personally.

 

RELEVANT INFORMATION

Laura Gallego is one of the most successful fantasy authors of the Spanish literary scene, in part thanks to the bestselling saga Memorias de Idhún, a trilogy that became the authors story to reference for the young adult audience. This story has been adapted to the comic format, and there are also two diaries, an encyclopedia and a board game based on the saga. Additionally, the trilogy is being adapted by Netflix to the audiovisual format, thus becoming the first ever Netflix animated series in Spain. Laura is one of the screenwriters of the project.

Laura has published twenty-seven books, has sold more than a million books only in Spain, and has been translated to sixteen languages such as English, Japanese, German and French. Besides, the author has won several awards, such as the Barco de Vapor Award (won twice), the Cervantes Chico Award, the Children’s and Young Adult Literature National Award, the Asociación de Editores de Prensa Periódica Cultural Award, the Isabel Ferrer Award, the Letras Valencianas Award, the ImaginaMálaga Award and the Atrapallibres Award.
