Mikel Santiago is a Basque writer recognized as one of Spain’s leading contemporary authors of thriller, crime fiction, and fantasy. He holds a degree in Sociology and has lived in Ireland and the Netherlands—experiences that have shaped the international, atmospheric tone of his writing.

He began his literary career by publishing short stories online and went on to self-publish four books through an independent writers’ platform. His talent and strong connection with readers quickly brought him mainstream publishing recognition.

Today, Mikel Santiago is a bestselling author, with over one million copies sold in Spain and internationally. His work has been translated into multiple languages and published in around twenty countries, winning over both literary critics and a broad readership.

In addition to his work as a novelist, he develops concepts and scripts for television series, and in 2021 he made his podcast debut with his first original audio series, Tricia, which achieved notable success on the Storytel platform.

His thrillers are known for their strong audiovisual potential, and several are currently being adapted for film and television. One of his major screen successes is the Netflix miniseries The Last Night at Tremor, based on his novel The Last Night at Tremore Beach, an unsettling and immersive story that keeps viewers in constant suspense.
