Yolanda Reyes

Yolanda Reyes is a Colombian writer, journalist and educator. She has a degree in Educational Sciences from the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogotá and a postgraduate degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the former Center for Ibero-American Cooperation.

Reyes has stood out in Hispanic literature for her young adult and children’s books, which have earned her The White Ravens Honor Roll of the Munich Youth Library. She has worked as the director for the Alfaguara’s literature collection “Nidos para la lectura”, and has also collaborated as a writer for Cambio, Cromos, SoHo and El Malpensant magazines. She is a columnist for the newspaper El Tiempo and has received a special mention in the Simón Bolívar Journalism Award. Currently, she teaches “Writing for Children” online course at the University of Barcelona.

 

RELEVANT INFORMATION

Yolanda has been awarded the XVI Ibero-American SM Award for Children and Young Adult’s Literature, the Fundalectur Award, the Ministry of Culture creation grant and a special mention in the Simon Bolivar Journalism Award. She was one of the founders of the pioneer Colombian project: Espanta pájaros, that consisted in the promotion of children’s reading, and has written numerous articles and essays that are considered a pinnacle for reading educators in Latin America.
