151 Stabs (151 cuchilladas)

“I don’t believe in justice. Life will make him pay.” The story of a famous crime that was left unpunished.

On April 27th, 2013, Miguel Ángel Domínguez and his eight-year-old daughter María were brutally murdered in their house in Almonte (Huelva, southern Spain) Someone entered their house and stabbed them 151 times. The little girl got the worst part: 104 stabs out of the 151. They left a mark on the father: a wound shaped like a cross on his back.

There is no one in jail for this famous crime, although the mother and exwife’s boyfriend, the main suspect, has spent three years behind bars. However, and despite the evidence, three courts have declared him innocent. The crime of Almote remains, to this day, impossible to solve.

Inspired by Truman Capote’s classic In Cold Blood, veteran journalist and writer Rocío Castrillo traveled from Madrid to her hometown to write about the events as a direct witness. This book is the result of an intense and documented work of investigation with the real main characters of the story.  The author gives us detailed portraits of the victims, of the accused and of their environment. She atended the trial in Huelva, and was helped by the investigators of the Guardia Civil. 151 Stabs (151 Cuchilladas) offers a chilling account of overflowing passion, heartbreaking testimonies and shocking scenes about an atrocious double crime that interrupted the peace of Almote and that opened one of the darkest chapters of crime investigation in Spain.
