Genesis of the Telenovela
Prohibited passions, secrets and crosslinked loves. The story narrates the lives of two friends: Ovalo, a charismatic and handsome young man, and the silent and awkward Efrain. Their destinies meet thanks to a hurricane. From then on, they will share lives during Batista’s Cuba, the Revolutionary Cuba and soon after the Revolution. As Ovalo takes part in the political Revolution, Efraín takes refuge in the radio where he becomes a pioneer with a successful new genre: radio serials. With his radio serials, Efraín partakes his own revolution, an intimate one. Always with and between them, there’s Aurora, her enigmatic presence will be a constant throughout both men’s lives.
RELEVANT FACTS: The novel sold more than 250.000 copies in Spain alone. It’s a story about reality and disappointment, two aspects intertwined with all the action, and at the same time, giving place to a fantastic atmosphere and emotional situations filled with passion.
