Love is No Big Deal (El amor no es nada del otro mundo)

A second chance he never imagined.

Humanity faces a new pivotal point. The universe will never be the same. There is no longer room for existential doubts. Any human being will be able to discover, from now on, whether happiness was really on those “paths not taken” by browsing through the profiles of their other selves.

The protagonist of this story is Ismael Belmonte, a thirty-something man with a dull and boring life who dedicates his spare time on Facebook, trying to convince everyone he is not the loser he actually is.

Every night, before going to bed, he performs the same ritual: he goes online and tries to find the beautfiul Amanda Saldana, formerly his best friend, his secret love, and his worst nightmare. He hasn’t heard from in twenty years. During his high school years, Ismael never had the courage to confess his feelings to her. He limited himself to playing the role of an ironically enthusiastic best friend, until she finally left to study abroad, and disappeared from his life forever. Nevertheless, Ismael had never completely lost hope that he might get a second chance.

Little does he know that this opportunity would not be granted to him in this world. Because one day, Ismael manages to locate the elusive Amanda through Facebook. But… how could he have ever known that this Amanda is not HIS Amanda?

Following the great surprise of discovering parallel universes, the story ceases to be the typical romantic comedy and becomes something much more original. From then on, the novel plunges into a spiral of bizarre situations and adventures, until it reaches a climax in which Ismael, now in love with two Amandas (the one from his real world and the other, the one who fell in love with him in the parallel universe), will have to decide between the two.
