Madame Renard´s chalet (El chalet de Madame Renard)

Monique Renard is a rich woman who lives in a chalet in Nice, doing shady businesses. Her life changes when two men that turn out to be just as crooked as her arrive to her house, but fall in love with her. Then, a love story starts between these three characters in which they constantly try to cheat on each other.

 

RELEVANT FACTS: Reflecting its success as a play is the fact that it has been adapted for TV twice (1972 and 2000) and played many times in the greatest Spanish theaters. The play’s game of appearances is very well made, keeping it fresh and appealing nowadays.

Mihura was a playwright, journalist and screenwriter, considered the main inventor of the Theatre of the Absurd, and the most outstanding comedian in Spanish language through the 20th century. Mihura wrote the scripts of more than twenty-five movies, among which stands out “Welcome Mr. Marshall”, a film directed by Luis García Berlanga in 1952.
