Shiva’s Tears Saga (Saga Las lágrimas de Shiva)

Shiva’s Tears | The Scarlet Circle

Crossed revenge, forbidden love, mysterious presences, strange disappearances…

Summer 1969. Javier is an intelligent 15-year-old who is passionate about science fiction. Unfortunately, his father is diagnosed with a highly contagious disease, so Javier is forced to move to Santander, in the North of Spain, with his mother’s side of the family. In Villa Candelaria, he is welcomed to an impressive and majestic mansion owned by his uncles and forms a rather strong friendship with his cousin Violeta. She reveals her ancient family history, the story of the Obregon’s, and talks to him about the missing emerald necklace: Shiva´s tears.

This story goes back 70 years, when Beatriz Obregon (their ancestor), was set to marry Sebastián Mendoza (member of one of the richest families in Santander). As a sign of commitment, Santiago Mendoza gifted Beatriz the precious family heirloom: Shiva´s Tears. However, Beatriz never showed up to the wedding and it was rumored that she fled with the necklace to sell it and live off the money she would receive.

To date, the Mendoza and Obregon families have never gotten along; however, Rosa (Violeta´s sister) maintains a secret relationship with Gabriel, one of the Mendoza boys. In addition, Javier and Violeta frequently sense Beatriz’s spirit. Intrigued to know the truth of the past events and to decipher what Beatriz’s ghost wants to communicate to them, they undertake an arduous investigation.

After digging into the most hidden family secrets, they will discover that Beatriz had fled to America, and they will prove her innocence in the theft of “Shiva’s Tears”. They will find out that the necklace had been stolen by Amelia, a former maid of the family who, now an old woman, will reveal the whereabouts of the necklace.

Four years later, the cousins have not seen each other since they found the precious necklace, and, truth be told, their relationship has stalled. But the mysteries continue. Now Violeta calls on her cousin Javier to help her solve a new case.

Elena Mistral, Violeta’s friend, has inherited some properties including the Kraken Mansion, the residence of Melquiades Salazar, an old millionaire who died two years ago. When Melquiades died childlessly, his inheritance passed to a side branch of the family: Elena’s father. However, not finding any documents belonging to the old man, the Mistrals are on the verge of losing the enormous inheritance. Because of this, Violeta asks Javier to help her find these documents.

When Javier, Violeta and Elena visit the mansion in search of clues, they find a secret room. They immediately notice a presence, but this time a much less friendly one, more terrifying and colder than Beatriz’s ghost… The nauseating smell and the banging that makes the house shake make their blood run cold.

Throughout the investigation they come across a dangerous and sinister Masonic cult: the Scarlet Circle, a collection of missing seals, a kindly old man, and a symbol that dates back to thousands of years before Christ, among other clues.

In addition, a tumultuous love story begins between Elena and Javier, causing tension between the three, although the teenage romance with her cousin Violeta ended years ago.

Finally, the teens solve the riddle and find Melquiades’ will, which states that Elena’s family does not inherit anything. Against Elena’s wishes, Javier delivers the will to the jury.

Javier and Violeta end up recognizing that they are still in love.
