Marcela Serrano is a Chilean writer of contemporary fiction, considered one of the most prominent voices in Latin American literature since the 1990s. A Fine Arts student, her work is characterized by a strong feminist perspective, the exploration of relationships between women, female identity, memory, and the social and political tensions in Latin America.
She made her debut as a novelist in 1991 with Nosotras que nos queremos tanto, a work that achieved great critical success and won the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize in 1994. From then on, she consolidated a successful literary career. Her works have been translated into several languages and, in some cases, adapted for film. She is the winner of the Santiago Municipal Literature Prize and a finalist for the Planeta Prize.
