María Dueñas

María Dueñas is a writer, holds a PhD in English Philology, and is a tenured professor at the University of Murcia. She has taught at North American universities, authored academic works, and taken part in numerous educational, cultural, and publishing projects.

After two decades devoted to academic life, she burst onto the literary scene in 2009 with The Time in Between, a novel that became an unprecedented publishing phenomenon. Its television adaptation, produced by Antena 3, received multiple awards and achieved extraordinary audience success in more than 50 countries.

Her subsequent novels, Mission Oblivion (2012) and The Vineyard (2015), cemented her position among the leading figures of contemporary fiction and were enthusiastically received by both critics and readers.

Translated into more than thirty-five languages and with millions of copies sold in Spain and internationally, María Dueñas is today one of Spain’s most widely read and beloved authors, with a strong presence in both Spain and Latin America.

In addition to the television adaptations of The Time in Between (Atresmedia) and The Vineyard (Prime Video), several of her other works are currently being developed for the screen, including Sira, the sequel to The Time in Between, and The Captain’s Daughters. Dueñas has also created the original series Los artistas: primeros trazos for ViX and the podcast Jodidísimas for Audible, successfully expanding her work into audiovisual and audio formats.
