Elaine Vilar Madruga is a Cuban writer, poet, and playwright, holding a degree in Theatre Arts and considered one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Latin American literature.
Her work, marked by a critical perspective on social and political reality, moves between horror, the fantastic, science fiction, and magical realism, addressing themes such as violence, motherhood, the female body, and power structures.
She has published novels, poetry collections, short stories, and theatrical texts in numerous countries, establishing an international career with titles such as The Tyranny of the Flies (2021) and The Female Skin (2026), her most ambitious work to date.
Throughout her career, she has received numerous national and international recognitions, including the Pinos Nuevos Prize (2013), the Cálamo Prize for Best Book of the Year (2021) for The Tyranny of the Flies, the Nollegiu Prize for Best Novel in Spanish (2023), and the 42 Prize for Best Work in Spanish.
