Sergio Pascual Peña was born in Plasencia, Spain, though he spent most of his childhood in Andalusia. There, he began his activist work for numerous social movements and served as a leader of the Andalusian Workers’ Union.

Sergio lived for a decade in various Latin American countries, witnessing their complex sociopolitical structure. He later returned to Spain to become the secretary of the political formation Podemos and a member of the Congress of Deputies. In 2016, he resigned from his position in the party.

Currently, he is a member of the Executive Council of the Latin American Strategic Center for Geopolitics, an institution dedicated to the study of Latin American politics, economy, and society.

Sergio Pascual experienced firsthand the most tumultuous years of Podemos, when internal conflicts began to create a division within the party. He narrates this experience in his media-famous literary debut, A Corpse in Congress, where he reveals the intricacies of the party at that critical moment.
