A Corpse in Congress (Un cadáver en el Congreso)

Podemos: from “yes we can”, to “we don’t want to”.

In 2014, a group of young people managed to inspire left-wing voters with promises of a fairer Spain, a new way of doing things. But conflict and betrayal turned that dream into a nightmare.

This is their story. A Corpse in the Congress delves into the first years of the new political party, when it was being formed, including their revolutionary entry into the political institutions, and the crisis that ultimately halted their progress. It explores the internal conflict that arouse when they party naturally gave birth to two leaders that stood in opposition: Pablo Iglesias and Iñigo Errejón.

The whole account is explained by one of the people who was there: Sergio Pascual, who served as the party’s secretary-general during those challenging years.

In 2016, Pascual was fired from the party. Years later, the once secretary-general reminisces his time in Podemos, those exciting beginnings, and, above all, the reasons that sparked the seeds of discord.
